As your Center Township Trustee, I promise my constituents that we are going to do everything in our reach to impact our community in the areas of education, workforce development, and increasing the standard of living. We want a township that is safe for our families to live, children to learn, and one that provides opportunities for our future.
Ensuring that we have a team built around the substance use problem in our community. I will also ensure that we have a community plan presented to the public that includes these cooperative partners. The township will also ensure that training, development, and prevention is provided for our youth and leaders. This includes providing the resources necessary to the Clinton County Substance Use Team to target prevention, treatment, and enforcement initiatives.
I will make every effort to ensure that we are meeting the needs of our most vulnerable citizens and those that need a hand up. I will work with our elderly population to ensure that if a need arises that we are able to assist them. I will also ensure that individuals who are at the poverty line or are barely above are giving the hand up they need. These individuals also have to follow through with their workforce, education, or self help goals that they are provided by my office and those that are partnered with our office.
Center Township wants to grow the United Non-Profits to include all service partners in the community. We also want to use this partnership to increase resources and find ways to decrease waste among all organizations. This will include quarterly meetings to discuss how this initiative is working. This will include a partnership with United Way for Clinton County.
Center Township will be dedicating 2020 to bringing together food pantries, workforce development programs, rehabilitation programs, and other resources that can maximize assistance for those who are need.
We will also work to find a solution for those who need housing but have nowhere else to turn. Center Township in 2018 became the centralized location to shift individuals in need to get connected to resources. Center Township just wants to ensure that we are always connecting our citizens and those in need with the best resource possible.
Center Township will continue to be preventive in nature when it comes to working with our schools and youth to start ending the cycles poverty with children. In 2019 Center Township opened classroom libraries for our elementary students.
This will also include a focus on enhancements related to parks and recreation. We are exploring a youth summer camp that will benefit all youth in our community. We will also be exploring locations and ways to focus on youth centered activity centers in the community.
In 2019, Center Township rededicated our cemeteries. For the first time, these cemeteries were placed onto the State of Indiana Historic Cemetery Marker Program. Markers were purchased and were installed in the Spring at Odd Fellows Founders Cemetery and Old South Cemetery.
